Black Feather was once an adventurous and ambitious pegasus, but during his childhood he was teased by other kids and students alike because of his apparant single wing, which also caused problems when trying to fly. This continuous oppression caused Black Feather to become stoic, melancholy and to become anti-social, staying away from anyone. However, when he became an adult, Black Feather began to become more social in his time; he still felt uncomfortable in displaying his appearance, but he grew to understand that people liked him for his personality and not just his looks, which began to lighten up, but he still remains serious and negatively emotional.
Black Feather's Cutie Mark is that of an intricate emblem; it's design and originality is unknown, but some suspect that it has a great deal of power. The Cutie Mark allows Black Feather to throw his feathers from his wing to repel or distract others, as well as creating powerful winds with the flap of his wing.

Black Feather was born in Cloudsdale, where he enjoyed a rather peaceful life, but during his time at Flight School he was constantly teased by the other children because of his one wing. Becoming secluded from other students, he left Cloudsdale as a young adult, but his flight had not been perfected due to his single wing. When trying to fly away, he ended up crash-landing into the Everfree Forest, but was able to take care of himself; apparently his visage was intimidating to other forest creatures, likely because of his one wing.
For many years, Black Feather stayed within Everfree Forest, finding solace in his secluded lifestyle; no one to bother him or to ridicule him. However, Black feather ended up meeting two ponies that came from Ponyville. Ignoring their advances to talk to him, in the end he decided to listen to them; to his surprise, they didn't find his visage a joke nor fearful, but thought he looked cool with a single wing. From this experience, Black Feather began to open his heart to others, becoming more kind. In due time, he returned to Cloudsdale.
On his return, Black Feather was greeted with mixed views from the other pegasus, including his old teacher and former classmates. Determined to finish his flight training, he was surprised to see how adept he had become, as had the others. However, the highest in his class challenged Black Feather to a race within the Sky Stadium. Despite the opposition being slightly faster, Black Feather's single wing gave him the edge in turning around corners as well as reducing wind resistance. Black Feather won the race in the end, and has since been celebrated by the younger pegasus. Now as an adult, Black Feather has become adventurous again, questing whenever he can for Cloudsdale and visiting Ponyville.
