Personality:
Jitterbug simply cannot seem to stand still. Her feet are almost in constant motion, and seeing her feet remain still for any period of time longer than a minute is considered somewhat of a miracle. She seems to have incredible balance, seeing as she doesn't have a problem keeping upright, even on things such as extremely thin tree branches.
Most of her ability lies in her family's age-old specialty: dancing. Pretty much every step Jitterbug makes is a step to some kind of dance, and if she's actually dancing, she gets way too into it, and it's extremely difficult to get her to stop before she wants to. Sometimes she ends up singing while she's dancing too, normally when there's no music in the first place, but the unfortunate thing is that she has little to no singing talent, and her singing voice is nothing short of loud.
Really, it's amazing how it hasn't made any creature drop dead.
When it comes to her skills, Jitter certainly isn't modest. In fact, she even brags about her bragging skills sometimes. It's kiiiind of annoying, but at the same time amusing considering her stories are oftentimes so obviously exaggerated that one can't help but maybe try to muffle a laugh here and there.
And she isn't really known for her keen sense of awareness. In fact, it's amazing she even notices when someone is sneaking up behind her. She's extremely oblivious towards others, especially when it comes to their emotions. It's never really been her strong point, so you have to be blunt around her if you want a straightforward answer. Though even then sometimes she might not quite get it, so one might also have to be a little bit patient.
She can't really handle depressing situations, so she isn't necessarily the best pony to come to when one's feeling down and wants to talk. Part of this is because of her oblivious nature, and the other part is just because it makes her plain uncomfortable, and she normally ends up saying the wrong things. It tends to get really awkward then.

History:
Jitterbug descends from a long line of traditional dancers. One could say she was born to dance; she's been doing so ever since she can remember. Her parents, however, weren't dancers themselves - they had the ability, but they just preferred other hobbies, and as such, didn't quite know how to help their daughter pursue her talent.
Unable to find someone nearby who could help their little Jitterbug, they sent her to live with her mother's grandparents in the blossoming settlement of Ponyville once she was ready to start school. Now, her only way of communication with her parents is by letter, which leaves her feeling a little homesick.
She throws herself into her dancing to keep herself distracted, and it more or less works.
[IGNORE THE DERPY PICTURE. I SUCK AT DRAWING FOALS OKAY THIS WAS LIKE THE FIRST ONE I ACTUALLY KIND OF TRIED ON]
