Her Excellence is a shrewd player amongst the Gryphon aristocracy; recognizing that knowledge was power and friendship was the magical coin of the realm, she quickly made alliances and brokered secrets until she became a veritable puppetmaster among the upper-class. She has taught herself to never forgive a slight, never reveal a flaw and never ignore an opportunity; and while these skills have made her seemingly cruel and dangerous, they have also ensured her relevance and importance in society. She wants this. She is deeply scared of falling back to where she started from, and she wants to feel, if not loved, at least appreciated and recognized.
She DOES want to be loved, no doubt about that; she loves and is grateful to King Darius, and was more than happy to give birth to his two children. The boy, Darius II or "Darry", she has taken to pampering and doting on in simple means. While he is (in her eyes) ineffectual, he is also well-liked and kind, and would certainly have nothing to worry about from the populace. As for her daughter, Frost, she sees greater and cleverer potential in her; she is grooming her for power and training her how to handle herself amongst the courts, so that she may be the true power behind the scenes.
All of this work doesn't leave the queen time for much simple pleasures; often keeping up with all the events of the Aristos leaves her with little sleep. She is prone to taking small naps throughout the day, should a situation call for her to forego sleep for a day or two. The queen does not like being left idle, though; if she finds herself with nothing to do, she will dote on her children or flirt with the queen, or OTHERWISE keep herself occupied. She doesn't really have any leisurely hobbies, per se; while she would not dismiss the occasional learning opportunity, she rarely has enough time to devote to a leisurely task for any extended period of time.

Her Excellence the Queen Glacier was once just Glacier, and she does not forget this. Her broodmates were violent, her family poor, her prospects bleak; she had to scrabble every inch of the way she got towards power. While she recognizes that attracting the Affections of King Darius I was a stroke of great luck, she does not forget that she had to work at earning his favor, and unless she is constantly diligent she may well lose it again.
Her excellence really rather prefers that the rest of her subjects not hear about her history on ascending the throne, for it contains private matters that it would not be ladylike to discuss.
As for the other races of the world: the dragons she did not meddle with, for they were subtle and quick to anger; The bison she left to their own devices, for they were of no use to the Gryphon empire. Only the ponies she gave particular note to: an ambitious, magical and developed civilization with the power to be staunch allies, useful subjects or dangerous foes. Glacier DEFINITELY wants to sink her talons into a piece of THAT pie; she would like to ally herself with them, then gradually assert the dominance of her species without risking war. After debate, she has decided she would be willing to enter negotiations with the fledgling empire, and see if she could make the best of an uncertain situation.
