Name: Peanut Brittle
Age: Young Adult
Gender: Male
Type: Pegasus
Cutie Mark: Three Peanuts in a Triangle
Personality: Peanut Brittle is for the most part layed-back, not letting life's worries twist his jimmies. He's a hard worker, but makes time for a little fun when he can. He enjoys the serene and tranquil music of the empty fields, but enjoys a good conversation with anypony who passes by. Most ponies wouldn't expect a Pegasus to be a farmer, but growing peanuts just comes naturally. He's pretty passionate about his talents, and isn't hesitant to prove that his peanuts are the best in his part of Equestria.(Sometimes to the point that it costs him in the end.)
Appearance: (picture in progress) Peanut Brittle's Coat is a honey yellow with a short, tan mane. He's usually seen chewing on the end of a stalk of hay.
History: As a young colt, Peanut Brittle grew up with his family on a small farm on the border of Canterlot and the Northern Kingdom. The family business consisted of farming vegetables such as Pumpkins and Corn, but while he was very accomplished in those tasks, his passion was peanuts. Unfortunately for him, the harsh environments of the Northern Kingdom were not suited for Peanuts, and any peanuts he did manage to grow were usually pulled up by curious critters. But Peanut Brittle lived up to his name, making peanuty treats with what peanuts he could save. It was those delicacies that kept customers coming back to the family store.
As years went by, a band of Gryphons began appearing around the farm, stealing crops from the edges of the fields. Without paying for them. Now Peanut Brittle's family was understanding, and allowed the taking of a few crops, but when crops began disapearing in more numerous quantities, the family had to confront the Gryphons. For three days, the thefts ceased, but on the fourth day, an entire half of the field had been stolen or smashed. The Gryphons demanded that they recieve half of the crops grown every season, and any resistance would result in the entire field being smashed. This hit the family hard, and not even the peanut treats could keep customers coming. They never would recover.
Peanut Brittle soon grew into a young adult, and left the farm to seek fortune in the Central Plains. For a few months, Peanut Brittle roamed the plains, searching for fertile soil to start his peanut farm. He finally found it on Buffalo Bluff, a plateau a few miles from Ponyville, on the boundary of the Central Plains and the Everfree Forest. Not only would anypony be able to reach the farm unless they had wings, most of them wouldn't think of coming that close to Everfree Forest to begin with. He settled here and started his farm, and a referbished hollow oak tree became his home.(This also provided the inspiration for his future slogan, "Fresh from the Hollow Tree.") Business was a smash, with ponies lining up on market day untill every last peanut and treat was gone. He managed to hire a baby dragon scribe with a portion of the funds, and it sent letters and profits back home to Peanut Brittle's family.
Peanut Brittle wasn't the only entreprenuer to come to Buffalo Bluff, however. One day, coming home from the market, Peanut Brittle found his scribe desperately trying to reason with a fearsome, young, adult dragon outside the Hollow Tree. The Dragon introduced itself as Axe, and that he had come to Buffalo Bluff because Peanut Brittle's farm was resting on top of one of the purest Diamond deposits in the area. Infact, the deposit was rapidly growning, and Axe planned start a mine to mine them. Peanut Brittle didn't mind the Dragon mining diamonds, but he refused to let there be a mine underneath his farm, worrying about how it could impact the crops. He and Axe came to an agreement, however, when Peanut Brittle's Scribe tripped and spilt a basket of super hard peanuts he was taking to the defect pile. A close observation proved that this batch of peanuts had grown into a small deposit of diamonds close to the surface, and had taken on some of the diamond's essence. Axe was inticed by the mix of gemstone and peanut flavors, as only he could seem to bite into one due to the toughness, and he and Peanut Brittle made a pact: Axe could mine the diamond deposit, but had to reenforce the mine so it wouldn't cave in, and couldn't mine the diamonds within ten feet from the surface.
In the present days, Peanut Brittle's Peanut business is booming, with the Diamonuts becoming popular among dragons, and selling for a high price. Axe comes out of his diamond mine in the Summer, when he sells them among the dragon market, and in the Winter, when the mine is too unstable to keep digging and he stays with Peanut Brittle untill the snow melts. Peanut Brittle's family is still under the terror of the Gryphon gang, but the funds they recieve from Peanut Brittle are more than enough to cover the losses. Over all, life for Peanut Brittle is good. Thoughts of expanding the business have entered his mind though. Could it be possible?
