The Wanderer has his title for a reason: he is a nomad. He travels the land without purpose. The wanderer is a strong fighter and is very capable of surviving on his own. He has also developed a talent for taming animals. Although he doesn't have as much of a talent for it as somepony who might have it as their cutie mark talent, he's much better at it than most ponies. With time and patience, he can befriend many otherwise hostile creatures. His cutie mark powers consist of very minor telekenisis, used mostly for things such lifting a pen to write music with, and plucking strings/ holding down valves on an instrument, although it's been a long time since he's made music. The Wanderer is very distrusting of everypony, and prefers to keep his distance, yet he makes periodic visits civilized settlements to trade. When he comes in contact with sentient beings, he speaks in a hostile manner, making sure that everypony knows that he does not wish to be friends. Much of his time is spent in the everfree forest, although he travels all over Equestria.
